Team Fortress 2: 360 Vs PC

Posted on Sunday, March 30, 2008 in 360, PC

ok the addiction for this game has gone ubercharged (sorry that was terrible)

well I want to compare the two very quickly because i’m kind of fed up of the whole PC > than 360 thing because this time it simply isn’t the case.

ok the PC version has alot of sound clips slightly better graphics then much better aiming controls.

but the 360 has much better controls over all for example it takes me alot longer to set up sentry guns or build/destroy anything on the PC. on the 360 controller very thing is alot better suited to quick combat where the PC you need to keep checking which number on the keyboard you need to use.

ok lets compare the 360 uses 15 buttons for all the controls but the PC uses 27 buttons thats 12 extra buttons now to me thats a bit crap I wish you could change the controls so you could map it to just 15…

oh and on the 360 the games better because you are forced to games of 8-16 non of this 36 people bullshit. it madness the maps just aren’t big enough for that many people.

but the PC version has spawned some interesting things…

yea… and the PC also has had more official maps… and custom maps…

ok i’m not arguing my point very well here…

ok lets just say this if you are playing the normal maps then the 360 is a million times better than the PC (aiming isn’t to bad trust me) but the PC is better in custom games and random fun…

and these never get old

the Soilder and sniper are funny :D

ok i don’t care anymore i’m just to the point now where I want to kill the people who ever wanted me to make this site along with nuking Redmond for making such a pathetic web browser.

well thats it i’ve forced it to work and it works kind of and that it I don’t care anymore the basic site is done just no content and without content it makes it bloody hard to make programs but oh well something to do in my many free hours this week…

well I said i was going to play Lost odyssey today but I don’t think i will (I might after work) I’m more in the mood for a bit of Team Fortress and considering I don;t have to go into work now until 6pm (BONUS!) I’m going to take advantage of it.

STRESS RELIEF here I come.

Hold on to those wallets people the 360 price has dropped

Posted on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in 360

look at this big thing it takes up loads of room make a hell of a noise keeps you warm in the winter snaps discs but at least it won’t cost you alot any more thats right people the 360 gets a price cut in the UK on the 14th march just in time for easter now does this have anything to do with the fact the HD DVD died and the ps3 sales are expected to sky rocket? nah I didn’t think so either.

ok the new pricing will look something along the lines of

core/arcade £150 – 179.99
prem £199.99
elite: £240.00

ok these prices aren’t 100% but they’ll be around there

so what are MS up to i wonder if the 360 handheld or the next builds or the 360 are due? they are certainly up to something

just thought i spent nearly that much in game last week ouch (core system price)

K day was a bit of a no day :-(

Posted on Friday, February 29, 2008 in 360, Game

what gives Katamari games I always amazing but this one was crap! and i honestly mean that what did namco do take a picnic during development then release 1 Week away from release they had only created 2 levels! yes thats right only 2!!!! and a total of a MASSIVE 13 requests!… from only 1 requester (which was the king of cosmos)

Ok for those who don’t know the format of a Katamari game let me explain. first you land in your little world which is normally a field or island on earth and then talk to the people in that world and carrying out the tasks they set you. on average there is about 15 different people to talk to who will request your help. Now each of these will have there only unique level most of them will be the standard roll things run until X big but others will be collect lot of this item or make it shiny.

anyway normally each of these will take place in a different area the standard aera are normally

Bedroom
Sweet shop
Town
City
Camp site
Zoo
park
Swimming pool
Construction site
Water park
ski resort
School
World
planet
galaxy

and a few others

in this game there is the following

Sweet shop
Manson
Town
City
World
planet
galaxy

and the different kind of mission are

Collect stuff until X big
Light a rocket/camp fire (make katamari hot)
make shiny (pick up fire flys)
sumo eating
collect items
make big levels with a twist (ginger bread house)

on the 360 we get

make X big
make hot (1 LEVEL)
collect rings (1 LEVEL and its was just like a normal level)
oh and memory level which was just pointless

ok now also in the older version each person who offers a task to you will then offer another task to you later and then another and then probably another (about 4/5) each level being similar to the one before but harder oh then then you get the choice of the time attack stage afterwards… this would total to about 50-70 levels (not including time attack)

on the 360 version you get a whopping great big total of 13 levels and there all the same… apart from the make it hot stage but you just make it hot you don;t do anything with it…

all in all I’m extremely pissed off with the game lets see if the DLC can redeem it… because by the sound of things all the real levels are in there…

and on a final note Lost Odyssey looks to be my RPG of the year i’ve only played the first hour and stopped because its going to suck me in so i’m leaving it until easter… oh and if you are thinking about buying the game just go watch the opening and try to spot where the prerendered scene stops and the real time begins. its hard trust me I never even noticed the battle had begun!

Halo is a legend

Posted on Monday, February 25, 2008 in 360, Game, Pain

and so is the 360… its just an amazing console isn’t it like with the graphics, Xbox live you know lots of thing other consoles never manage to do.

there is a point to this just hang on

ok let me set the scene I set out this week to get the legendary achievement on Halo 3, which wasn’t to bad just took a few try to get though some of the harder parts and now i’m on the last level! i’m so damn close but unfortunately I won’t be able to attempt it again anytime soon… and the reason why!!!

well i’ll let you guess. Nah thats too mean i’ll give you a choice

1. Console has had a case of the RROD
2. I lost the game?
3. got burgled again
4. Scratch on disc stops last level from loading.
5. other

I’m tempted to let you choice and then I’ll reveal the answer tomorrow but I will lack the time tomorrow so i’ll tell you now.

ok first make you guess and then scroll down.

Look at that disc…

If you couldn’t tell from the picture that’s a dirty great big crack in the disc WTF man I’ve heard of the 360 scratching disc but never cracking them. ok i’ve heard that some games from EA have been known to form cracks in the disc due to the DVD case but have you seen the Halo limited edition case it barley holds it in place.

I hind sight I should of removed the disc when the grinding sound started oh well at least the disc didn’t snap in half…

At least I only have the last level to do… I hope because the game failed just as the pressed skip on the cut scene at the end of the previous level…

looking into the cause it appears to be the heat of the 360 that causes it I think my brother planing all the halo 3 the last 2 months killed it…

I’m a bit pissed off that halo 3 is no longer under the replacement program. Maybe i’ll give MS a call in the week see if we can come to some sort of agreement

Posted on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in 360, Game

“the carnage, the joy, the pandas, the laughter, the wonderment and the insanity

If you haven’t guessed it its yes its that time of the year again its Katamari time YAY! bit earlier this year but who cares I feel like some rolling carnage again its some good old school stress release (old school… ok not yet but close)

you’ve got to love the last level of any katamari game but finally we get to roll up the world! ok in the second PS2 one we got to roll up the galaxy but :P

Assassins Creed: was it worth it?

Posted on Saturday, November 24, 2007 in 360, Review, Xbox

I feel cheap for saying this but the game is more worth a rent or a preowned buy but not full price new because £40-£50 is alot of money really. but the game was worth the wait

Well in short I think the answer is yes the game was worth the wait but I feel as though it needed a bit more work done to it. to be honest it kinda felt like they has this game finished back in 2006 but they have spent alot of time polishing off the climbing and environments which I can’t complain about because it simply stunning no video or review can describe the freedom you have in this game. but for the last 18 months thats all they did it feels like the programming team said I’m sick of programming this game now and got side tracked and started doing odd jobs on the unimportant stuff rather than making the soldiers have a bit of AI or a few more lines to say. and they could of spent some time fixing a few graphics glitches (god it so hard to talk about graphics glitches in this game). For example on the horse its no uncommon to run round a corner to find theres no floor well theres rocks and trees floating but no floor…

ok on with the review

Stroy

ok well i’m not going to tell you it so :P all i’m saying is you mess up and you get demoted (pants) and you need to work your way up again and to do so you need to kill some people simple. there more to it than that but you really need to play it too find out. so far it seems interesting so lets leave it at that

Characters

well whats to say altair is an assassin and he kills people not much to say really other than hes a bit impatient and moans alot but hey. ok voice acting in this game is good well very good really apart from one person… which is altair I don’t know if thats on purpose or not but his voice is so lifeless and boring but once again it doesn’t really effect the game that much because he doesn’t talk much. ok voice acting on everyone else is good but the only issue here is they have so little to say when trying to save a citizen the guard will probably repeat the same sentence about 5 or 6 times… same when there fighting or chasing you so this is just annoying really.

Music

well it more like sound effect there not really any amazing about the soundtrack its a bit bland they seem to be trying to copy MGS a bit with the elaborate sound effect when you get spotted or kill someone which is nice but at time its a bit OTT.

Graphics

well there very nice indeed despite the glitches. ok let me explain the graphics of the game are very clean and detailed so are the builds trees etc and the “intended” glitches are a new touch which adds something to the game and after a while you don’t notice. along with the detail the lighting, motion and distance blur are very well done unlike most games shadows aren’t great but alot game do have problems with this.

ok on to the real glitches some of these are minor but for a game of this level these shouldn’t be happening. ok the one that pisses me off the most is the fact that altair keeps disappearing but only during “intended” glitches so during certain points in the game like high profile kills etc he will disappear well most of him will which is clearly a glitch in the glitch… (I suppose they could cheat and say it was ment to happen…) another annoying glitch is the disappearing floor well its more of the fact the floor doesn’t load in time because you can get really confused thinking your about to jump off a cliff when it not. but to make it worse is doesn’t even after a few seconds it can be like 5-8 seconds before it loads.

Gameplay

ok now on to the most important part of any game because if the gameplay sucks then whats the point. ok i’ll split this bit into 2 part the first will be the good parts the second is the bad

good

well it fits every demo gameplay and video to date of the game they delivered there promise of free roaming environments with no limits so good one. ok climbing well lets say this game as now set a standard which hardly anyone has the money or time to compete with the climbing in the game is beyond everything you have seen or played if you want this game for a bit of free running then get it (better than the free running game lol). and one last note on that the animation is seemless (almost) they must of spent weeks in motion capture to get all the movements or even months because its just that good. now fighthing this is also a good point if not too easy after you get counter but it does look good better sword fighting i’ve ever played.

ok the bad

first of all the AI of the enemy its terrible first of all you can kill someone when a guard is looking at you and they won’t suspect you of doing it even when your the only other person there. and when fighting you can be surrounded but the ones standing behind you won’t attack even though they have a clear shot you and they will only attack you one at a time which make it a bit easy.

another bad point is the fun but annoying missions. ok there fun but its just the fact you need to do the same thing again and again and again why not give you a mixture. ok you can get away with doing 2 of they out of a choice of 3 but its always the same 3 which are pickpocket, evesdrop or interrogate (punch someone in the face in an alley). ok there other stuff to do like emm find flags climb viewpoints and er save people who are being beaten up… Lastly loading time omg these are a joke its just you running around in nothing a progress bar would have been nice.

socres

story: 8
graphics: 8(due to real glitches)
character: 9
difficulty: 4
gameplay: 6
music: 5
overall: 7 (well the mean of those score is 6.6 but i don’t do halfs)

ok 7 out of 10 isn’t a great score well its not a great game I can honestly say this game is a show boat it does look pretty but with the basic gameplay in shambles i think its fair. ok the missions it does do are great and the story is good but its not enough to save it for me sorry ubisoft and sorry Jade Raymond looks like you worked too hard on making it look good and not enough on the gameplay. but I will say this with my hand on heart that Assassins creed 2 will be amazing because the graphics and climbing mechanics are solid enough for them to make the next one and just work on the story and gameplay.

ok in short this game has excelled in some areas far beyond any game that has came before it but they have totally messed up the basics.

Mass effect on a grand scale?

Posted on Friday, November 9, 2007 in 360, Game, Xbox

unless you have been living under a rock for the last 2 years you would have bound to have heard of Mass Effect

nice box shot… which I think were all sick of.

well basically mass effect is bioware and Microsoft’s next killer app for the 360 if it lives up to the hype that is which at the moment I have my worries it might not. saying that. heres a review from Game Informer Online

“It’s an adventure that is so captivating that you’ll be counting the days for the sequel. It takes interactive storytelling to new heights, and brings the player closer to content than ever before. It’s easily one of the year’s best titles and one of the most impressive games to date.”
9.75/10

now thats a big score and I don’t just mean the font size and they seems very fair on reviewing games apart from a select few like COD 4 they gave a 10/10… c’mon its not that good and halo they gave 9.75 as well but who in the media didn’t give that game a good review… but even after that shining review i’m still not sure ok the graphics are wow and the game “chat” system looks wow also but the fact there’s a novel set before the game makes me think the story is a bit shallow unless you have read the novel which isn’t good but i will reserve judgement until 2 weeks from now (allowing the fact i actually buy the game)

bascially I have a choice Assassins creed and mass effect so lets just wait and see

Review Eternal Sonata part 2

Posted on Friday, November 9, 2007 in 360, Game, Review, Xbox

ok on to part 2.

first lets start of with the story.

Story

now this is what makes this game stand out from the rest its basically takes place on the night that Frédéric Chopin died which is kinda strange because you know the ending before you start. but the game itself takes place inside Frédéric’s head in his last dream before he dies its a strange place where people who are terminally ill can use magic. in terms of a main character there doesn’t seems to be one but Frédéric is one of them but he doesn’t seem to effect the story much he’s just here for the ride as such then with have Polka who is a young girl who can use magic and start this journey to lower taxes on floral powder (medicine) and make them stop making mineral powder (ultra medicine that has no tax) but along the way they uncover secrets and a hidden plot of war but yea you need to play to see that. ok then we have the leader of the party Allegretto who is also making this journey with his partner Beat to lower taxes on bread and other daily items.

sounds a bit boring doesn’t it but it is good and during each chapter there a little history lesson into Chopin’s life using real photographs and his music.

Graphics

now the graphics aren’t blow you away amazing but who cares there damn good all the character are extremely smooth and the scenery is also amazing to look at so I can’t really fault it. along with the Graphics the animation is very smooth better than most games. another thing about the whole look and theme to the game every has something to do with music like the menu a riddled with notes along with the level up screen even the battles have the odd note here and there this is what i think makes the game stand out it has a theme and uses it throughout.

Voices

now the voice acting is good they fit there characters very well my only complaint is Mona Marshall is the voice of beat ok thats not really fair shes a good VA but every RPG I play atm has got her voice in like Blue Dragon she was the lead. but other than that voices I can’t fault them but I can fault the over use of the echo filter… ok it sounds cool but a bit OTT.

its appears I’ve run out of time again damn…

ok lets round this up

Graphics: 9
Story: 9
Gameplay: 9
Characters: 8
Voice: 9
Replay: 9
overall: 9

sorry for the unvaried score but this game is a must buy it is quite simply a breath of fresh air in the JRPG world
